Strathdale Wagyu Breeding

Strathdale Wagyu Divider

Driven by Data. Built on Performance.

Our fully integrated supply chain allows us to collect and analyse performance data throughout an animal’s life, giving us a clear understanding of how our genetics perform from paddock to processing.

Data collection begins at birth, with individual animal identification and detailed records of parentage. As cattle progress through our production system, we continue to record pregnancy testing results, fertility, growth rates, weights, feedlot performance and ultimately, carcase and marbling results.

By following each animal throughout its life, we can connect breeding decisions with real-world performance and use this information to guide future genetic selection.

Data at Every Stage

At Strathdale Wagyu, genetic improvement is at the centre of everything we do. Since beginning our Wagyu breeding program in 2000, we have combined extensive data collection, expert knowledge and carefully managed breeding programs to continually improve the performance, fertility and carcase quality of our herd.

MasterBeef Technology

Masterbeef plays an important role in our genetic improvement program, bringing together performance data from across our supply chain to help identify our most valuable genetics.

Through detailed data analysis and advanced carcase assessment technology, Masterbeef allows us to look beyond traditional selection methods and identify animals consistently producing the traits we value.

This information, combined with the extensive knowledge and experience of our genetics consultant, Mr Alan Hoey, guides our breeding decisions and helps us identify our highest-performing sires and dams. His expertise, together with the performance data collected across our operation, has been instrumental in the ongoing development and refinement of the Strathdale Wagyu herd.

Breeding for the Future

Artificial insemination (AI) is fundamental to our breeding program, with our entire breeding herd artificially inseminated to accelerate genetic progress and maximise the influence of our best-performing sires.

Fertility is a non-negotiable part of our selection criteria. We maintain strict fertility standards, with underperforming females removed from the breeding herd to ensure reproductive efficiency remains a priority.

By combining disciplined selection, expert knowledge, comprehensive data and modern breeding technology, we continue to refine our genetics with a focus on fertility, growth, feed efficiency, marbling and consistent eating quality.

Every generation is an opportunity to improve, and every animal contributes valuable information to that process.
