Struggle Downs

Strathdale Wagyu Divider

Owned by the Hamblin family for four generations, Struggle Downs has evolved from its origins as a sheep grazing property into an integral part of the Strathdale Wagyu enterprise.

The property’s distinctive name dates back to when a local police officer from the neighbouring town of Leyburn required a property name to complete official permits.

Today, Struggle Downs is home to a fully shedded feedlot featuring an innovative autonomous feeding system. At the heart of the operation is a purpose-built feeding system with a feed kitchen that allows robotic feeders to automatically refill, deliver and push up feed around the clock. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, this technology provides our cattle with consistent access to feed while supporting precise nutritional management, operational efficiency and animal welfare.

Combining four generations of family history with modern agricultural innovation, Struggle Downs Feedlot plays a vital role in the development of the exceptional marbling, eating quality and consistency that define Strathdale Wagyu.
