Innovative feeding and technology
Struggle Downs
Struggle Downs has been owned by the Hamblin family for four generations and was once a sheep grazing property.
Its name came from the local police officer of the neighbouring town Leyburn, who needed a property name to fill out the permits.
Since 1943, the property has provided value to the Hamblin family, now it acts as the finishing operation in the Strathdale Wagyu chain, with innovative feeding and technology as its future. It provides the perfect location for each animal to reach their highest carcase quality potential.
The property is now specifically designed to enable the application of modern technology to aid in precision operations, world class animal health, and overall efficiency.
The fully shedded compost bed barn, provides complete cover for the animals and their rations. This new and innovative design allows for a 24-hour automated surveillance and ration delivery system to provide the ration.
Our flexible pen sizes within the sheds allow for data collection and analysis of sire-lines feed performance and efficiency.
