The Hamblin family are first generation Wagyu breeders whose venture into this breed of cattle in the Blue Mountain region of Queensland began when the property, Strathdale, was purchased in 2000.
This lead to what is currently 7 properties as part of the Strathdale wagyu operation.
Strathdale and Pandanus on the Central Coast, Orana Downs, May Downs, Windeyer Hill, and Derrandloc in Central Queensland. The newest addition to the family production chain is the finishing operation at Struggle Downs, Leyburn on the Darling Downs.

Strathdale Wagyu
Strathdale Wagyu began in 2000 when artificial insemination was implemented to turn the initial small brahman and brangus herds at Strathdale into a wagyu herd.
The purchase of higher-content wagyu crossbred to boost the herd sizes. After the purchase of the central Queensland properties shorthorns were used as a base breed to build numbers for stocking.

The finishing operation in the Strathdale Wagyu chain is the innovative feeding and technology operations at the Struggle Downs feedlot in Leyburn on the Darling Downs.
Struggle Downs provides the perfect location for each animal to reach their highest carcase quality potential. The property is specifically designed to enable the application of modern technology to aid in precision operations and overall efficiency.
Each animal enjoys world class health conditions under the fully shedded feedlot.
